Glossary

Product The finished item you sell or produce.

Component A physical part used to build one or more Products. A Component may be shared by multiple Products — see Products, Components & BOM.

BOM (Bill of Materials) The list of Components a Product needs, and how many of each.

Per product ×N The quantity of a given Component required per finished Product, as defined by that Product’s BOM.

Production Profile Describes how one Component is manufactured: compatible printer, yield, print file, materials, print time, and plates. A Component can have multiple Production Profiles. See Production Profiles.

Production Combination An Automatic-mode combination of active, compatible Production Profiles — one per Component — across a Product’s BOM, worked out fresh each time you create a Production Order. If exactly one combination is compatible, it’s used automatically; if more than one is compatible, you choose. Not saved as a template, and not the same thing as a Product Production Recipe. See Production Orders.

Product Production Recipe A saved, named, whole-Product production template — a reusable combination of exact Production Profile (and Plate) choices across a Product’s entire BOM at once, saved from the Product page. Explicitly selecting one while creating a Production Order makes it strict order intent: SpoolIQ uses exactly the Profiles/Plates it specifies and does not silently substitute another one. It records order/template intent, not execution — see “Print Job” below for what actually proves something was printed. See Production Orders.

Yield How many units one print run of a Production Profile produces.

Production Order Represents demand for a quantity of a Product. Breaks down into demand for the Components that Product’s BOM requires. Produced either Automatically (SpoolIQ works out a compatible Production Combination) or from an explicitly selected Product Production Recipe (strict intent). Either way, does not permanently commit to a specific Production Profile until a concrete Print Job exists — see Production Orders.

Print Job A concrete, scheduled or started print of a specific Production Profile — the actual execution record. This is the single source of truth for what was actually printed, on which printer, with which materials: the point at which a Production Order’s demand (Automatic or from a saved Recipe) becomes committed to one particular way of manufacturing a Component. Selecting a Product Production Recipe records intent; it does not, by itself, create or stand in for Print Job history.

Archived A reversible state (for Components, Production Profiles, and Products) that preserves history and data while removing something from being selectable for new use. Archiving never deletes the underlying record.

Reactivate Restores an archived Component or Production Profile to active use. Does not create a duplicate — it’s the same record, made available again.

Spool A physical roll of filament tracked as inventory. See Inventory & Spools.

Printer compatibility The compatible printer model assigned to a Production Profile. Enforced as a hard constraint: production cannot start on an incompatible printer, whether that Profile came from Automatic mode or a saved Recipe’s strict intent. See Production Orders.
